A National Forum ‘Intergenerational Compact for our Young People’

Launch of Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Project
21 August, 11:00am-12:00pm Perth Time - East Maddington Primary School, 79 Pitchford Avenue, Maddington WA 6109. The Minister for Health and Ageing, Nicola Roxon will launch the national $12.8 million Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden National Pilot Program, and call for interested schools around Australia to apply to be a part of the initiative. Blood, Art and Tears
23 August. 2:30pm. Blacktown Arts Centre, 78 Flushcombe Rd, Blacktown - Arab artists talk about what it’s like to live with war and the experiences of Arab artists as immigrants.  Speakers include Nour Dados who will talk about arts projects produced in Beirut that tell the story of a people desperate to forget bloodshed. AIPP Canon APPA’s Travelling Exhibition Opening Night/Media Launch

Cricket Legends to Tour Rockhampton and Townsville
18 -22 September -
Former Test and Australian cricket legends Darren Lehman, Greg Blewett, Terry Alderman, Michael Kasprowicz, Greg Matthews, Greg Campbell,  Phil Emery and Len Pascoe to name just a few, will tour Rockhampton and Townsville as part of the Australian Cricketers’ Association(ACA) Masters Regional Tour program. The ACA Masters team will play matches against invitational sides, hold FREE super-clinics for kids and help with fundraising and promoting community initiatives. The Memory Walk, World Alzheimer’s Day

Launch of World Mental Health Day

National Museum of Australia - The Mental Health Council of Australia (MHCA) will launch this event and Jessica Rowe, Patron on the MHCA will be the official host. The theme of World Mental Health Day (WMHD) 2008 is advocacy and participation.  This is a positive message about consumer and carer participation, especially in employment and community engagement.
